Welcome to the new normal. While health experts have established that hand-washing is clutch, there's still some controversy surrounding whether or not wearing a mask prevents the spread of COVID-19. Here are 3 reasons why rocking a partial face covering when you hit the streets isn't a bad idea:
1. It can't hurt. While there's not yet enough data to support the idea that wearing a mask will slow down the transmission of the virus, there's also not any significant data confirming that it will not. COVID-19 is still very new. We don't know what we don't know. Better safe than sorry.
2. Empathy is sexy. Even if you have not been directly affected by COVID-19, thousands of your fellow humans are dealing with the heart-wrenching shock of losing a friend, colleague, patient, or loved one to this silent killer. Wearing a mask in solidarity to the thousands of people on this planet who are suffering says that you acknowledge their pain, and are doing your part to be part of the solution.
3. It's not about you. We're all uncomfortable. We all miss wearing lip gloss and showing off a freshly-contoured jawline. But folks are out here dying. Wearing your mouthpiece out of respect for other people is just the right thing to do. Let's keep our droplets in check until we figure this whole thing out.
